The Petroleum Research Center offers scientific projects and services aimed at satisfying the needs and expectations of the petroleum industry and provides timely information to clients and society in general.

Green services and solutions:
The Corrosion Laboratory has been accredited since 2004 by the NC ISO / IEC 17025: 06 Standard. It has researchers with more than 30 years of experience, executes research projects all related to corrosion control in the oil and electrical industry (refineries, drilling and extraction companies, thermoelectric plants).
It has 6 accredited tests, including electrochemical, gravimetric and metallography in order to:
-Determine the causes of failures caused by corrosion phenomena in the different branches of the country’s industries, in order to give recommendations for repairs, as well as provide preventive measures to avoid their occurrence.
-Determine the corrosivity of different aggressive media in contact with the metallic structures of both industrial and civil facilities: atmosphere, water, soil, industrial media, etc.
-Evaluate and recommend the dosage form of corrosion inhibitor products.
-Evaluate the quality of metals and alloys through their structural study, chemical composition and mechanical properties, for the selection of suitable materials in different media.
-Execute projects for cathodic protection systems in maritime, underground and industrial facilities.
-They carry out inspections and tests on pipelines such as: corrosivity of soils, parasitic currents, electrical influences by high voltage lines, detect activity of microorganisms that cause anaerobic corrosion, continuous recording of potentials, opinions on the operation of cathodic protection systems, and designs thereof.
-Characterization of catalysts, adsorbents and porous solids in general.
-Specialized service of analysis of cracking catalysts (FCC) in equilibrium.
-Evaluation of the catalytic activity and absorptive capacity of catalysts and adsorbents used in the petroleum and chemical refining industry.
-Experimental Catalyst Plant: The experimental catalyst production plant is designed for the production of prototypes of catalysts that have been developed in the Unit. Additionally, tests are carried out in this plant in a pressure bench reactor of catalyst samples from industrial service work or that are in the development phase.
-Certification of the quality of crude oil: fuel, basic oils, transformer oils.
-Characterization “ASSAY” of crude: complete program, medium complexity, reduced program.
-Selection of the most appropriate oil refining schemes for the production of: fuels, lubricants, mixed.
-Effectiveness studies of chemical agents.
-Optimization and use of Simulators.

-C CPC-8 combustion promoter catalyst for FCC catalytic cracking.
