On February 7, 8, 9 and 10, 2017, the Cuba OIL & GAS 2017 event was held at the Habana Libre Hotel, which served to promote foreign investment in the sphere of the oil and gas industry in Cuba, Which was organized by the British company IRN (specialized in this type of events at international level) and by Cuba-Petroleum. It is estimated that some 220 foreign delegates and about 60 Cuban delegates and guests participated, as well as a small CUPET support staff.
Twelve foreign ambassadors accredited to Cuba participated as guests.
Foreign delegates were representatives of some 17 oil companies and more than 25 service companies. The program of the event consisted of 2 work sessions on February 7 (pre-conference workshops) and 2 work sessions (morning and afternoon) during the 8th and 9th of February. Outside the IRN program, on Friday, February 10 CUPET organized a technical visit to oil facilities on the north coast of Havana-Matanzas for interested of foreign delegates. During the working sessions of 8 and 9, 16 special conferences were presented, five of them by foreigners and eleven by Cubans. In addition, two round tables or panels were held.
During the two working days of the summit, exchange sessions (of one hour duration) were held between foreign and Cuban delegates, which were very important for consolidation of personal contacts and future business relationships.
